Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance, originated in Tamil Nadu. According to Wikipedia, it is over a hundred years old. There are three levels in Bharatanatyam. They are Malari, Allarippu and Jatheeshwaram.

I have been learning Bharatanatyam for six years. Varsha ma’am taught me Bharatanatyam for three years. Shobanaa Bhalachandra ma’am is teaching me for the last three years. Shobanaa mam and Varsha ma’am follow the Kalakshetra style. Here is Shobanaa m’am’s website, Tharanginee.

When I was young, my mother used to go to office. Even now she does. She used to drop me at my grandparent’s place. My grandparents observed that I used to go and sit with Varsha ma’am in her classes. They understood that I was interested in Bharatnatyam. They told my parents about it and all of them joined me in her Bharatnatyam class.

I love Bhartanatyam because it makes me really happy. Bharatanatyam has hand gestures called Mudras, which I like a lot. Mudras make me feel like I speak sign language with people.

Who am I?

I am Shruti Prabhu. I am studying class six in the Grove School. I am a kind of person who does the same things every time. My dearest story book as of now is Harry Potter, because it is a fantasy which deals with magic, mysteries etc. My not-so-favorite story book is the Secret Seven as it talks about things I do not like at all.

My favourite author, as of now is J.K Rowling as she is a person who writes about fantasies. I don’t like reading Enid Blyton as her story books are not as good as J.K Rowling. I like to listen to songs which are enjoyable. I like ‘La isla bonita’ and ‘Que sera sera’ as they are enjoyable to listen.

I didn’t like listening to ‘dream it possible’ song, as it is a really long song and it hasn’t been sung well unlike La isla Bonita and Que sera sera. I love Madonna and Doris Day as their songs are nice to hear. I don’t enjoy Idina Menzel, as I find her songs boring. I attend two extra curricular classes which are Bharthanatyam and keyboard. I have so many best friends in my school, in Bharthanatyam class and keyboard class.

Corona Virus

Corona Virus

I heard, this virus started in China and spread to all other countries. I am not sure if it’s true, but I read this virus started as all the Chinese people started eating animals like snakes and bats.

This virus is a very harmful virus right now because there is no vaccination. Let me list some points to prevent getting infected with this virus.

  1. Stop going to crowded places like malls, beaches, historical places or monuments
  2. Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes frequently
  3. Do not shake hands with anybody
  4. Wash your hands till your elbow using a soap frequently
  5. As per the Government orders, do not go out of your house for 21 days until this virus is controlled
  6. After you go out for a walk and return back home, always use a hand sanitizer
  7. In case of any medical issues call the doctor using a help line number
  8. Clean your house regularly
  9. Wear a mask when you are going out of your house

This is what I have learnt about this virus. The most important thing is to remain clean and tidy.

My birthday celebration

It was a sunny day. My family woke up in the morning (rise and shine).  My mother wished me happy birthday, so did my father.  I thought my mother bought chocolates from the super market.    Then I went near the refrigerator to check out everything, I found out that they were no chocolates.  I went to ask my mother, ”Where are the chocolates mom?”. My mother said, ”I didn’t buy any chocolates, you never reminded my yesterday. ”I did remind you”, I said .   My mother said, ”We shall buy after you have a bath and finish your  breakfast”.   I was wearing my birthday dress and my mother said, ”It’s getting late so let me go drop your younger sibling to his singing class” and she left.

When my mother returned I had already finished my breakfast and my grandmother was combing my hair. My mother bought eclairs and melody chocolate.  There was a lot of time for the class, so I asked my mother, ”Mom may I go and distribute the eclairs chocolate to my friends now’?’.  My mother said, ‘Ok”.

I distributed chocolates to my friends.  It was time for me to distribute to my friends in the keyboard class. I quickly packed my bags along with my chocolate box and started my journey to my keyboard class. I finished distributing chocolates and left. I returned home and had my lunch and started to play with my little brother. The next day was Monday. I wore my birthday dress and  went to school and distributed chocolates to my friends and teachers.  I had dance class on that day but all my chocolates got over.  I went to dance class and told my dance teacher about it. My dance teacher and the other children sang for me and we all took a group photo.  This is how I celebrated my birthday.

The Shepherd who passed away

In a village there lived a poor woodcutter.    He always cut wood, sold them and got a little bit of money to survive.    One day when he was walking on his way back home, he found a boy begging for money.  So the woodcutter felt sorry for the boy and adopted him, but the worst thing was that the woodcutter didn’t have enough money to feed the boy.

One day he saw Sridevi, his friend who was also a poor woman.   The woodcutter ran towards Sridevi calling out ‘Sridevi’.

‘What do you want?’, asked Sridevi.

The poor woodcutter cried, ‘I have adopted a boy but I don’t have enough money to feed him’.

‘Dear woodcutter please do not cry. I will take the boy along with me and provide him with food and water’.

‘Are you sure?’, asked the woodcutter.

‘Yes’ told the lady.

The next day the woodcutter brought the boy along with him and gave it off to the lady.  But the lady instead of treating the boy well made him a shepherd who had to take care of sheep.  The lady never provided the boy with food nor water.  The boy who starving with hunger passed away.   The next day the lady went to the woodcutter narrated the whole story.

‘What?!!’ screamed the woodcutter and lead a sad life.

My keyboard annual day

I got ready for my annual day and rushed to the stadium.    I found my friends Petrina and Shambavi there.  I was feeling so bored that I asked my friends what we can do.   Then my friend Shambavi told she would tell me a ghost story.  Petrina and I accepted.

So she began the story and in half way of the story,   Shambavi felt hungry.  She went out of the hall she found few people selling samosas.   She then rushed towards the shop and asked for one packet of samosa, but they didn’t know English as they only knew Hindi.   As they didn’t know English she spoke Hindi with those people who were selling samosas.     They finally understood and gave her a samosa.     So soon Petrina, Shambavi and I were feeling quite bored that we three went to a teacher named Meenakshi.   I asked Meenakshi mam when our keyboard program will begin.   Mam told that keyboard program was the last program.   So my friends and I kept bothering her every minute, asking the same question.   Mam decided she would schedule the dance program in the end and the keyboard right before the dance program.

First performance was mine.    I was dead happy that I rushed to the stage.    But the worst part was I didn’t know how to configure the keyboard.    I was feeling quite disappointed and called Prashanth sir to the stage to clarify my doubt.   But what I didn’t expect was Prashanth sir himself didn’t know the answer for my doubt.   Finally I played whatever came to my mind.   None of them clapped their hands because I didn’t know the settings for the song I was going to play.    This was my worst event.

On the way there was a restaurant named A2B .   My mother and father had coffee and my brother and I had Maaza juice.       Then we continued our journey to Kodaikanal.  We reached the Ghat road at 2 PM. From ghat road to Naidupuram it took so long to reach our destination.   Then the next day when I woke up, I had bath and started my journey to the lake in the lake. I had a lot of fun. Excel work in summer holidays

  1.  My father gave me a printout and asked me to write it in Excel.
  2. The printout had a list of company names ,  dividend money and date.
  3. I’ll give some examples for companies:  NTPC limited, Bharat petroleumAurobindo pharma etc.
  4. Then after I finished entering data, my father made a bar chart using all the companies.
  5. I stored it as Div G and emailed him
